Description
The late phone call. The angry customer. The child who will not listen. The month when the money does not stretch. Every leader meets pressure, and most of us know the feeling afterwards: "That was not the person I want to be."
This short course asks a simple question: what governs you when leadership gets hard?
Pressure is part of ordinary life. It is not a sign of weak faith, and Jesus told his disciples plainly to expect it. But pressure is not empty either. What comes out of us when we are squeezed tells us something true about the heart. Pressure does not create the heart. It reveals it.
In eight short lectures you will learn to see your own pressure clearly. You will map where it comes from: what is happening now, what you fear may happen, what you carry from the past, and what is going on inside your body and emotions. You will learn what a response under pressure can honestly show, and what it cannot, so that you neither excuse yourself nor condemn yourself. Then you will work in the space between pressure and response, where a feeling rising is not yet a choice.
This course is practical. Every lecture follows four steps: Learn, See, Practise and Apply. You will build tools you can use straight away
-The Pressure Map, to see the four directions your pressure comes from
-The Pause: Stop, See, Ask, Choose, for the moment before you respond
-A 7-Day Pressure Log, to build the habit day by day
-A Pressure Response Plan, to prepare a faithful response for a pressure you can expect
The course is taught from within the Reformed Christian tradition, in plain English, with real-life examples from home, work and church. Scripture is quoted from the English Standard Version.
