Fundamentals, Driver, Sensor Control, and PLC Motion

What you'll learn
⚡ Describe the construction of servo and stepper motors
⚡ Describe the operation of servo and stepper motors
⚡ Describe the applications of servo and stepper motors
⚡ Describe ways to control servo and stepper motors

Requirements
❗ It is recommended that students have a background in AC and DC electricity, AC and DC motor operation, and magnetic field concepts,. It is not necessary to know C++ language as you'll be taught what you need to minimally know.

DescriptionStepper Motors: Fundamentals, Drivers, Closed-Loop Control & PLC Motion provides a practical introduction to the construction, operation, associated math for gears steps per revolution, and control of stepper motors used in automation and motion-control systems.

The course begins with a review of DC motor fundamentals and then examines the major components of stepper motor systems, including stators, rotors, drivers, controllers, encoders, and power supplies. Students will learn how stepper motors produce precise movement and how direction, speed, pulse count, timing, acceleration, deceleration, and microstepping affect motor performance.

An Arduino controller is used during introductory demonstrations because it offers a simple and inexpensive way to observe motor behavior and experiment with basic control variables. This is not an Arduino or C++ programming course. Only the elementary programming needed for the demonstrations is explained.

The course then progresses into practical stepper control using a dedicated motion controller, a closed-loop stepper system with encoder feedback, and PLC-based industrial motion control using pulse and direction signals.

Lessons combine explanations, hand-drawn illustrations, wiring, real components, applied math, parameter setup, and physical demonstrations. The emphasis is on understanding how stepper systems work and how these principles apply to industrial automation, robotics, positioning equipment, indexing systems, and manufacturing applications.

Who this course is for
⭐ This course is designed for those who wish to or are already working in the manufacturing and automation industry.
